How do I get financial aid for international students in the USA?

Hi everyone! Although I have decided to study in the US, I’m afraid of the high cost of living and tuition. I have no idea what financial aid options are available to me as an international student. Could someone please clarify the process for applying for financial aid for me? Which universities are more able to deliver assistantships or scholarships, and what kinds of aid are provided to international students? Are there any typical rules or regulations I should be aware of to increase my chances of obtaining financial assistance?

International students may submit applications for financial aid in a variety of ways to attend college in the United States:

For all undergraduate students who complete the CSS Profile forms with their parents every year, multiple private US colleges in multiple states offer financial aid for international students, ranging from partial to full coverage. A large number of those private universities, however, are sensitive to the needs of international freshmen and will use your request for financial aid as a barrier when you apply for admission. However, five distinguished private universities are need-blind: Yale, MIT, Princeton, Harvard, and Amherst College.
International students are eligible for merit aid from public universities in the United States, but commonly not until their sophomore year or beyond.
The number of NCAA D-1 universities in the United States that present athletic scholarships to extraordinary international student-athletes. For men, it consists of full scholarships for ice hockey, basketball, and tackle football. For girls, there is full scholarship for ice basketball, hockey, tennis, gymnastics, and volleyball. Not every athletic scholarship is totally funded.
Receive financial assistance from your home country or the military of your country for attending college in the United States on the assumption that you will go back home after completing your studies and work there for a term. In fact, a lot of my MIT classmates and roommates were given full tuition repayment in that way.

However, US universities generally view foreign college students as a source of revenue and provide very little in the form of financial aid.
