North American Language and Culture Assistants Program
North American Language and Culture Assistants Program NALCAP finds its existence when English speakers have the opportunity to share native English language skills and culture with students in Spain while immersing in the Spanish culture as paid language assistants in Spain.
Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy and Consulates in the US and Canada, sponsors NALCAP. It allows Native English speakers with English language skills to assist teachers in the English language schools in Spain to promote language and culture immersion and exchange between North America and Spain.
NALCAP runs from October 1st to May 31st with 12 to 16 working hours per week and enjoying the same holidays as the teachers and students. Those who are accepted for NALCAP are eligible for a monthly stipend of 700 to 1000 euros and medical insurance.

You are required to apply for NALCAP which includes meeting eligibility criteria and the undergoing application process.
NALCAP Eligibility Criteria
Be a US citizen.
Have a passport that’s valid until three months after your NALCAP’s end date.
Hold a BA, BS, AA, or AS degree or be enrolled as a sophomore, junior, or senior in a BA or BS program.
Be a native or native-like English speaker.
Be in good physical and mental health.
Have a clean background record with no criminal offense.
Be aged 18 to 60 (due to labor regulations in Spain).
Have a basic level of Spanish for your everyday life in Spain.
NALCAP Application Process
Apply through NALCAP Profex, which is an online portal to apply to NALCAP. Create an account on Profex NALCAP, fill in the required information, and apply when the application windows open which typically fall between January to April
Provide the required documents which are a valid U.S. passport and a copy of its main page, a college transcript or a copy of your university diploma, a 250-300 word statement of purpose, and a NALCAP letter of recommendation from a college professor, instructor, or employer.
After applying, you will get a mail stating you acceptance or rejection for the program. Once you are accepted, apply for a NALCAP Visa.
NALCAP Visa Process
When your NALCAP application is approved, your next step is to get an approved NALCAP visa which falls under the category of Student/Study National Visa. The NALCAP visa can take between 5 to 8 weeks after the application is received. To navigate the NALCAP visa process, you are required to:
