Regular students can buy a student commuter pass at the counters of the bus, train and tube stations. Students must provide their student ID and the “Tsugaku Shomeisho” certificate, which confirms to their commute to and from university, in order to receive the pass. You can pick up the Tsugaku Shomeisho at the automated document-dispensing devices located across the campus.
It is advised that non-regular students who are not qualified for a student pass take commuter passes or pre-paid coupon tickets. Exchange students who apply for the discount in advance through their colleges can receive a student discount pass from the Kyoto Municipal Transportation Bureau.
Only the Kyoto Municipal Bus and Underground are eligible for this student discount. For KUINEP students, the application can be submitted at the International Education and Student Mobility Division; for regular exchange students, it can be submitted at the faculty/graduate school offices.
